National Park "Bukit Baka Bukit Raya"



The forest area Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park is dominated by peaks Schwaner. The existence of these mountains is representative of the type of mountainous tropical rain forest ecosystem with high relative humidity (86%).

Recorded 817 plant species included in 139 families including Dipterocarpaceae, Myrtaceae, Sapotaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Lauraceae, and Ericadeae. Species of mammals that can be found among others clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa), orangutan (Pongo Satyrus), bears (Helarctos malayanus euryspilus), maroon leaf monkey (Presbytis rubicunda rubicunda), lemurs (Nyticebus coucang borneanus), sambar (Cervus unicolor brookei) , flying squirrels (Petaurista banksi elegans), and the banded palm civet (Visvessa tangalunga).

Bird species live in this park include hornbills (Rhinoplax vigil), rangkok rhinoceros (Buceros rhinoceros borneoensis), hornbills black (Anthracoceros malayanus), Common Emerald Dove (Chalcophaps indica), Little Cuckoo-Dove (macropygia ruficeps), Great Argus (Argusianus argus grayi), and Kalimantan peacock-pheasant (Polyplectron schleiermacheri). Peacock-pheasant is a species endemic to the island of Borneo's most endangered due to human activities in the forest.

The indigenous people who were around the national park are descendants of a group of Dayak Limbai, Ransa, Kenyilu, Ot Danum, Malahui, Kahoi and Kahayan. The works of their culture that can be seen is the ancestral wooden statues made of wood purchases, rattan / bamboo / pandan and ceremonies.
